How to prepare for an Auction

Make sure you have ticked off all these items before heading to an auction, the whole process will be much less stressful.

Take identification with you if you're not known to the auctioneers so that you can register for a buyer's number or paddle. They will need evidence of your full address and contact details.

Ensure you have enough cash, a credit/debit card or cheque book with you. Sometimes using debit/credit cards can carry a surcharge of around 2%.

Make sure you know what you're bidding on and have done your homework.

Try and look over the Lot offered before the auction starts. Lift it up if possible, and look closely from top to bottom for faults.

Set yourself a price limit before the sale and stick to it.

If you're concerned about over-bidding or not being able to stand the pressure take someone with you who you trust, and preferably who has bought successfully at an auction before.

Be confident, it is a unique experience, enjoy it!
